why we built this
when i moved to los angeles for college, I was turning 18 about a month after I started school, so I instantly started looking for tattoo artists near me who did work I liked. It was a huge deal — obviously — because it was my first tattoo.
I quickly realized that there was nowhere to find these artists. I was scrolling through Instagram and TikTok for hours, using hashtags to try to find an artist who was near me, affordable, and did work that I liked.
I realized that not only were people looking for tattoos unable to find the artists they needed, but artists weren’t being discovered either. The only thing artists could do to get noticed was go viral on social media.
Around this time, I had been talking through the idea with my co-founder, Jackson (yes, both of our names are Jackson).
So we decided to build something to help both sides.
We’re starting in los angeles, then taking this everywhere. The mission is simple: every person who wants a tattoo should be able to find the perfect artist in 30 seconds. And every artist should spend their time doing what they truly love — not drowning in admin work or social media.
